Craig y Nos Harpists (the school badge has a harp on it!) was formed in 1985 when a group of fathers and staff members decided that it would be fun to play a few friendly matches during the Summer term, against other non- league teams in the area, have a drink afterwards and enjoy the social aspect as well as helping to keep fit.
We began as a team which did not win many games as we were made up, mostly of players who had not really played cricket since their schooldays, or even who had never played cricket before. Our first win was a momentous occasion at the end of the first season and from this, a more structured game has eveloved.
We still play friendlies and would not contemplate league status, although we do have a number of players who could hold their own in any league team.
If you have a connection with the school and fancy a knock please come along to one of the matches and check us out.
We are also very much in need of an umpire for the season...it means knowing the rules of course but it pays handsomely in beer at the end of the match !!
We look forward to seeing you during the season.
The Harpists now have their own website. Please visit it for more details about the team, its matches and events.
The 2009 FIXTURE LIST is also located on their site.

On Sunday June 10th 2006 a charity cricket match was played at St Helen's County Ground in Swansea between Badgers Cricket Club and Craig y Nos Harpists. We were celebrating our 21st season this year, and were playing for the first time at the venue.

Touring team of 2004 pictured at the pavilion at Broadhalfpenny Down, Hambledon...the home of the game of cricket. A fabulous location for two good games of cricket over the May Bank Holiday weekend.
